I met Jaime at Pontardawe Leisure Centre in February 2026. I had recently retired and wished to improve my strength and fitness levels.

I had no experience of fitness training and was quite nervous. However, Jaime immediately put me at ease and calmly explained what was available and listened to my concerns. In no time, we had agreed a plan for me as a beginner at the gym.

I started training a week later. It was challenging at first, but I was delighted that I progressed quite quickly, particularly because Jaime has a very professional and realistic approach when coaching.

Jaime created a safe environment for me by setting realistic goals for each session, and by closely supervising and encouraging my efforts. His patient but positive approach throughout has improved my confidence, kept me motivated and made the learning fun too.

After 3 months, I am now much more confident, certainly more fit and will soon be able to maintain my own fitness regime (although I will continue to have some additional coaching sessions as I progress).

I first met Jaime before Christmas 2025. When he learned of the challenges being a 79 year old woman with health issues, he happily, and bravely (!) agreed to work with me to improve my general health and reduce fall risks.

He has been amazing.

He is a gentleman with a great sense of humour, with lots of patience, understanding and empathy. I find myself looking forward to each session with Jaime - Me! Who has never enjoyed or done much exercise in the past! And he's made a huge difference to how I feel, both physically and emotionally (and those who know me well say I'm looking really well/good).

I still have my health issues - & they are definitely challenging on occasion - but my balance has improved greatly and hence my risk of falling has reduced. A big plus for an older person. Thankyou Jaime, I'm "in" this for the long term - or as long as I've got left!! :-)

Jamie is a very knowledgeable physical training instructor who came highly recommended through a work colleague. After having spinal surgery over 10 years ago I've failed to get back into weights through injury. However, Jamie tailored a weights programme specific to me and now I feel stronger and more confident to push myself. I have learnt exercising techniques from him without the worry of causing injury.

I’ve really enjoyed training with Jaime. He’s easy to get along with, good fun, and makes the sessions feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than intimidating.

What I’ve appreciated most is that he actually listens to what you want to achieve and adapts the plan around you as a person, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ve refined my programme quite a lot over time based on what I enjoy, what I don’t, and what’s realistically sustainable for me long term, which has made it much easier to stay consistent.

Just wanted to send over a testimonial and say thank you for all the work and support over the last number of months.

As someone who is blind, finding the right PT was important to me, especially someone who could explain things clearly, adapt where needed and still push me properly without making me feel limited by my sight loss. You’ve managed that balance really well from the start.

Since training with you, my strength has increased massively and physically I’m probably in the best shape I’ve been in for years. The sessions are always challenging, but structured in a way that keeps me progressing steadily and realistically alongside work and everything else.

I’ve also appreciated that you focus on proper form, progression and consistency rather than gimmicks or ego lifting. A lot of the lifts and numbers I’ve achieved recently are things I genuinely would not have thought possible beforehand.

Beyond the gym itself, the training has improved my confidence, mindset and general wellbeing as well. I actually enjoy training now rather than seeing it as something I “should” do.

I decided to enroll at the gym at the end of February 2026. However, I felt that I needed more discipline and I also needed to learn the correct procedures, etc. It was then I decided to have a personal trainer, and I met Jamie for the first time.

Before I started personal training with Jaime my gym sessions were boring and I felt unmotivated. I wanted to keep fit for daily life with my family but I only really focused on cardio because I felt intimidated by the weights and didn’t know how to use most of the equipment.

He listened to me and put together a well structured plan incorporating many new activities. After hearing a lot of people talk about personal trainers, I thought, would I be suitable and able to go through an exercise programme with someone.

I had seen Jaime in the gym with other people and finally asked if I could sign up with him.

Such a good decision. Jaime is motivating, knows all the equipment in the gym, advising and showing how to set the machines up for my personal setting.

Jaime pushed me to achieve more than I believed I could do, even making the sessions very enjoyable, I did not only grimace and grunt putting all effort into my session, but also smiled and laughed.

I feel confident now to use the weights and equipment that previously I walked past. I feel stronger, motivated to carry on with the plan made for me by Jaime after discussing in depth what I wanted to achieve.

When I first started working with Jaime , I was in a difficult place both physically and mentally. As a paramedic, the pressures of the job can take a significant toll, and I had been struggling with my mental health and finding the motivation to look after myself. What I thought I needed was a personal trainer. What I actually found was someone who genuinely listened.

From the beginning, Jaime took the time to understand not just my fitness goals, but also what was going on in my life. He recognised that progress isn't always measured by weights lifted or miles run. Some days, just turning up was a victory, and he understood that without judgement.

What sets him apart is his ability to adapt. If something wasn't working, he would tweak exercises, adjust training plans, and find different approaches that suited me better. Rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all programme, he tailored everything to help me achieve the best possible results while keeping me engaged and motivated. His knowledge and attention to detail meant that even small adjustments often led to significant improvements. More importantly, he created an environment where I felt supported. Today, I am stronger, healthier, and in a much better place mentally than when I started. While I initially signed up for a trainer, I gained something far more valuable—a trusted friend who genuinely cared about my wellbeing and helped me become the best version of myself.

After being a member of Celtic for years and enjoying all the facilities and classes they have on offer, my fitness had improved but my definition and body composition seemed to have plateaued. I wasn’t sure where to start with strength training so tried Jaime’s personal training service. From day one Jaime was friendly and knowledgeable. The program he set out is easy to follow and every single session he pushes me to achieve my best with plenty of laughs and banter along the way. Jaime is a fantastic personal trainer . I started with him nearly 7 months ago . Although I have kept going to classes at the gym and run I had never done much strength and conditioning training . Before I started I was terrified of all the intimidating gym equipment and kept putting off going there . So when Jaime started working at Pontardawe Leisure Centre and was advertising his personal training business I thought let’s give this a go!

I will be honest I was a bit apprehensive because initially I would have preferred a female because I was so nervous. In the first hour of my session with Jaime I knew he was the best choice as a trainer. He is so nice , kind , patient, and very encouraging . He is always ready to listen and will put you at ease about your fears instantly , and work with you to adapt the training sessions how it suits you individually. He is very caring and professional in his teaching . He does push you to get the best out of you but will never judge you is what I really like about him.

Because of Jamie I am now very motivated to do my three sessions he has prepared for me religiously every week and no longer afraid of walking into the gym .
